Marimekko and Laila Gohar Launch a Playful Capsule Collection
Marimekko and Laila Gohar Launch a Playful Capsule Collection text Natalia Muntean Finnish design house Marimekko has teamed up with New York-based artist Laila Gohar to launch a whimsical capsule collection inspired by the bedroom. The global launch is set for September 2025, with an exclusive early preview at the iconic Le Bon Marché in Paris starting August 30th. The collection playfully blurs the line between private comfort and public style, brought to life by Gohar’s maxim, “if it’s ironed, you can wear it out.” It features a curated series of items adorned with bold, contrasting archive stripes designed by famed Marimekko artist Maija Isola. The highlight is a range of crisp cotton pyjama sets designed for both lounging at home and making a statement out in the world. To celebrate the launch, Marimekko will open an immersive pop-up installation at Le Bon Marché, recreating the grand-scale bed made of 18 units that debuted at Milan Design Week. Coinciding with Paris Design Week, the pop-up will be part of the store’s Rock’n’Drôle event on September 4th, featuring Finnish liquorice and a limited-edition tote bag for guests. Beyond sleepwear, the collection features sleeping masks, bedding, ceramics and other home products, all featuring stripes in a palette of sky blue, citrus yellow, plum and berry red.
