Cartier Introduces the Clash de Cartier Bag
Cartier has extended its Clash de Cartier jewellery universe into leather goods with the launch of the Clash de Cartier bag. The defining detail is the clasp – a sculptural stud that mirrors the signature element of the jewellery collection, opening and closing with a single twist. It is both the bag’s functional fastening and its most distinctive design statement, conceived, as Cartier describes it, with a jeweller’s eye.
The silhouette is architectural and restrained: an envelope-inspired form with clean lines, punctuated only by the collection’s signature studs. The bag can be carried by hand, worn over the arm, or styled on the shoulder, and the clasp offers two configurations: left open for a looser, more relaxed fit or fastened for a more structured shape.
“The aesthetic of this bag is driven by the purity of its lines. We took inspiration from an envelope to design an elegant, sleek fastening system that subtly defines the shape of the bag on either side of the handle,” says Marlin Yuson, Creative Director of Accessories and Leather Goods.
Each bag is made in Cartier’s workshops in Florence from supple, naturally grained leather selected for its tactile quality and capacity to develop a patina over time. The colour range spans black, caramel, and Cartier’s iconic burgundy, an official Pantone colour first introduced with the Must de Cartier collection in the 1970s and one of the house’s most recognisable signatures.
The Clash de Cartier bag launches globally on 1 September at cartier.com and in select boutiques.
