Loewe Opens Submissions For The Tenth Edition Of The Loewe Foundation Craft Prize
LOEWE FOUNDATION is pleased to open submissions for the tenth edition of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize, which will be awarded in Europe in spring 2027. Anyone working in a craft-based profession, and over 18 years old, is welcome to apply. Entries will be accepted from today until October 15, 2026.
The LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize was first established in 2016, with the first prize awarded the following year. Inspired by LOEWE’s own beginnings as an artisanal workshop, the prize celebrates excellence and innovation in craft in all its forms. Entries over the past decade include works in textiles, bookbinding, ceramics, jewelry, lacquer, and paper, and many other craft practices. Since its founding, the prize has raised craft to new levels of global and institutional recognition and helped to nurture techniques and traditions that have been at risk of disappearing.
The LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize recognizes both the rich heritage of craft practice, and the unique expression and hand of the individual maker. Each entry to the prize must be an original piece, partly or fully made by hand. All submissions to the prize are reviewed by an expert panel, who together select a shortlist of 30 works. This selection is based on key criteria including originality, artistic vision and merit, precise execution, material excellence, innovative value, and a distinct authorial mark.

Sheila Loewe, President of the LOEWE FOUNDATION, says: ‘‘It is with great pleasure and pride that we open submissions for the tenth edition of the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize. Over this past decade, the Craft Prize has become a platform for an ever-growing community of artists and artisans around the globe, showcasing work that inspires new ways of thinking about craft and its place in contemporary culture. Year on year, the prize has affirmed the infinite possibilities of craft and its capacity to evolve and surprise us. I greatly look forward to discovering the remarkable ideas, perspectives, and works this edition will bring.”
The 2026 edition of the Prize received over 5,100 submissions from 133 countries and regions across the globe. Alongside Jongin Park’s winning entry in paper and coloured porcelain slip, Strata of Illusion, special mentions were awarded to Graziano Visintin for his work Collier, two necklaces composed of tiny cubes built from thin sheets of gold and decorated with the ancient metalworking technique of niello; and to Baba Tree Master Weavers (Mary Anaba, Charity Aveamah Atuah, Christiana Anaba Akolpoka, Asakiloro Aduko, Mary Ayinbogra, Teni Ayine, Subolo Ayine and Punka Joe) × Álvaro Catalán de Ocón for Frafra Tapestry, a piece crafted in natural and dyed elephant grass that draws on both aerial imagery and traditional basketry techniques.
