The North Face Nuptse: A Legacy Reimagined for Fall Winter 2026
Celebrating six decades of outdoor innovation, The North Face revisits one of its most recognisable designs for Fall Winter 2026, introducing three new interpretations of the iconic Nuptse jacket.
Few outerwear designs have made the transition from the mountains to the streets quite like The North Face Nuptse. For Fall Winter 2026, the brand celebrates its enduring legacy with three distinctive models that honour the past while exploring new possibilities in performance, design and personal style. Long established as a defining piece in The North Face’s history, the Nuptse has helped shape the modern down jacket. This season, its heritage provides the foundation for a renewed exploration of the silhouette, balancing technical innovation with the cultural influence that has made it a favourite across fashion and streetwear.
Leading the collection is the Summit Nuptse, a new high performance model that revisits the jacket’s technical origins more than three decades after the Nuptse first made its mark. Described as the lightest and warmest Nuptse to date, it combines the familiar silhouette with innovative features, bringing a contemporary perspective to the design. Its arrival also comes 30 years after the original 1996 version, which continues to be available in a retro inspired edition. For a more versatile approach to everyday dressing, the PERTEX Nuptse Reversible Jacket offers two distinct expressions in one design. One side presents a clean, modern aesthetic, while the other draws on the original Nuptse through colour blocking and its characteristic oversized down baffles.Completing the trio is the 1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket, a lasting icon that continues to influence both fashion and streetwear. Recognisable for its distinctive proportions and unmistakable design, it remains a testament to the enduring appeal of a functional garment that has evolved into a cultural staple.
The Nuptse’s influence extends well beyond its technical origins, connecting outdoor performance with contemporary culture. The Fall Winter 2026 campaign reflects this crossover through a cast of personalities whose worlds span the mountains and the city. Among them are ski mountaineer Jim Morrison, Olympic silver medallist in sport climbing Brooke Raboutou, snowboarder and DJ David Djite, and New York based DJ collective Las Flaquitas. Together, they embody the different communities that have embraced the Nuptse, from those pushing boundaries in the outdoors to those shaping the sound and style of urban life. With its latest collection, The North Face celebrates a design whose relevance continues to transcend its original purpose. Reimagined through technical innovation and contemporary styling, the Nuptse remains a defining piece of outerwear, rooted in its heritage yet continually evolving with the times.
