Made for Memories: Nordic Nest Celebrates Christmas at Kalmar Castle

For its 2026 Christmas campaign, Nordic Nest brings contemporary Scandinavian design into dialogue with centuries of Swedish history. Set within the Renaissance interiors of Kalmar Castle, the campaign explores a more expressive vision of Scandinavian Christmas, where rich colours, layered table settings and cherished design objects take centre stage. Moving beyond the traditional studio setting, Nordic Nest places Scandinavian design classics alongside contemporary pieces within the castle’s historic rooms. Deep red textiles meet timeworn stone walls, while glassware, ceramics and candlelight are framed by monumental paintings. The result is a richly layered setting that brings together different eras and expressions, evoking a home shaped by generations of objects and traditions. At the heart of the campaign, titled Made for Memories, is the idea that the objects we return to year after year become part of our personal histories. From familiar tableware to treasured candlesticks and textiles, the things we bring out each Christmas carry memories, gradually becoming part of the traditions we pass on. Rather than embracing the pared back aesthetic often associated with Scandinavian Christmas, Nordic Nest explores a world of greater depth, colour and personality. Kalmar Castle, with its more than 800 years of history and distinctive Renaissance interiors, provides a natural setting for this meeting of old and new. The location also holds a special significance for Nordic Nest, which was founded in Kalmar and continues to have its headquarters in the city. Through Made for Memories, the castle becomes the brand’s Christmas setting across its international markets, bringing together the enduring appeal of Scandinavian design and the traditions that make the season personal.
