A Little Strawberry in the Daily Routine with Smuuti Skin
text Maura Van den Borre & Victoria Zabecka
The products I use every day are not always the ones I expect to return to. Recently, two products from Smuuti Skin’s Strawberry Boost collection have earned their place: the Strawberry Tinted Lip Serum and Strawberry Boost Eye Cream.I have sensitive skin, and both have felt comfortable to use, without any redness or breakouts so far.
We first explored the collection at the brand’s launch, where vitamin C came dressed in strawberry pink and red. There were creams with tiny bursting capsules, pads that doubled as miniature masks and a lip serum that brought a touch of makeup into the mix. There was plenty to discover, but the real test came afterwards, when I started using the products at home.
The brand is all about easy everyday use. Based in Helsinki, with products manufactured in Korea, the brand grew out of its founder’s work introducing Korean skincare to the Nordics. Her interest eventually developed into a brand of her own, built around making skincare approachable, with colourful packaging and an emphasis on textures.
The Strawberry Boost collection has recently expanded with three additions: Toner Pads, Capsule Cream and the Tinted Lip Serum, joining the existing face serum, eye cream and wrapping mask.
The Tinted Lip Serum gives a hint of colour. This is a bright shade of strawberry red but the formula is designed to leave your lips with a pink flush. The serum offers a middle point between skincare and makeup by giving a tinted finish but also a bit of moisture. It comes with a silicone applicator and has a lovely fruity strawberry scent.
Alongside it, I have been using Strawberry Boost Eye Cream. Already part of the range before this launch, it has a cooling metal-ball applicator and a fragrance-free formula. Its ingredients include a mild vitamin C derivative and caffeine, which the brand uses to help give the eye area a more refreshed appearance. For me, its appeal has been more immediate: it feels nice against my skin.
Behind the strawberry theme is the collection’s focus on hydration and radiance. Smuuti Skin uses 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid, a vitamin C derivative selected, according to the brand, for its stability and gentleness. At the launch, the team explained that they wanted to approach vitamin C through something other than the familiar orange and citrus imagery. Strawberries became the starting point, shaping both the formulas and the pink and red appearance of the range.
The other new additions offer different ways to use the collection. The Toner Pads can be swept across the face, using their textured side for gentle physical exfoliation, or left against the cheeks as small masks. Their formula includes a Centella asiatica complex intended to help soothe the skin. In the Capsule Cream, vitamin C is held in small capsules suspended in a light lotion; the brand says this helps keep the ingredient stable.
The wider range also includes a gel-like face serum and a wrapping mask, which forms a peel-off film designed to help retain moisture. All of the products are vegan, with different formats that can be introduced into an existing routine.
After trying the collection, the lip serum and eye cream are the two that have slipped most easily into my day. They feel good on my skin, and I enjoy using them. Sometimes, that is enough to make room on the bathroom shelf. My skin always gets the final say on what stays in my skincare routine.
