Veja and Pleasures Rework the Salar with a Plant Root Print

Veja and Los Angeles label Pleasures have collaborated on a new version of the Salar, the urban silhouette with an outdoor edge that sits at the crossover between trail and city. For their first collaboration, the two brands draw their visual direction from the natural world, specifically, the root system of a plant, scanned flat, reworked, and applied across the shoe as an organic camouflage effect that reads as both abstract and recognisable.

The design also marks a first for the Salar model: it arrives here in a combination of alveomesh and suede inserts for the first time, expressing the earth tones, bark textures, and undergrowth palette that the image references. The Vibram outsole carries over from the original, keeping the technical construction intact. The colourway is Eagle Kaki.

Materials across the shoe reflect Veja’s production standards: the upper is in 100% recycled polyester alveomesh, laces in organic cotton, lining in recycled polyester, and the insole in a bio-based EVA made from 52% sugarcane and 13% Amazonian rubber. The outsole combines Amazonian rubber with mineral silica and synthetic rubber.
