Ilse Crawford and Skultuna Turn Their Attention to Candlelight
A new wall sconce by British designer Ilse Crawford explores the quiet impact of candlelight, bringing together Scandinavian restraint and a tactile sensibility.
Skultuna continues its collaboration with Ilse Crawford with a new wall sconce that places candlelight at the centre of the home. Known for her humanistic approach to design, the British designer considers how objects shape the way we experience a space, with an emphasis on comfort and well-being. The design pairs a pared back silhouette with a tactile material expression, balancing Scandinavian minimalism with a distinctly British sensibility. During the day, the sconce reads as a sculptural object on the wall. By evening, it takes on another role, casting the warm, living light of a candle into the room.
“We wanted to create a product that feels both functional and poetic. The atmospheric glow of a lit candle has a unique ability to create a sense of calm and comfort, qualities that feel more important than ever in our everyday lives,” says Crawford.
Made with durable materials and conceived to stand the test of time, the sconce reflects a shared interest in objects that are as enduring as they are considered.
