A Taste of Swedish Luxury at Riche
Come October, Stockholm turns its attention to one of Sweden’s most coveted delicacies. From 6–9 October, Riche welcomes the return of its annual Löjrom Days, celebrating the arrival of the season’s freshly harvested Kalix vendace roe.
For four days, the restaurant’s tables will be set with tins of glistening roe, served simply on ice and accompanied by finely chopped red onion, smetana and lemon. Guests can choose between butter-fried toast, delicate blini or the quintessentially Swedish rösti. At the bar, icy vodka, Champagne and cocktails provide the finishing touch. There is something inherently luxurious about löjrom: its brief season, meticulous preparation and unmistakably Swedish character. Kalix vendace roe is harvested for just five weeks each year, with every batch carefully prepared by hand. In 2010, it was granted EU Protected Designation of Origin status, recognising the unique combination of place and craftsmanship behind the delicacy. Its place at Riche is part of a longer Swedish gastronomic story. In the 1950s, legendary restaurateur Tore Wretman helped transform vendace roe from a regional ingredient into a defining symbol of Swedish fine dining. Today, Riche continues that tradition with an annual ritual that feels both timeless and distinctly Stockholm: golden rösti, pearls of roe, a glass of Champagne and an autumn evening in the city.
Löjrom Days runs from 6–9 October at Riche. Drop-ins and reservations are welcome.
