Barbour’s Tartan Story for AW26

For Autumn Winter 2026, Barbour returns to one of its most enduring signatures: tartan. Rooted in the brand’s Scottish heritage, the new season introduces Shadow Classic Tartan, a quieter interpretation of the original family sett inspired by the muted tones of the autumnal landscape. Photographed among the Scottish glens and mountains that have long shaped the Barbour story, the collection brings together menswear and womenswear across clothing, outerwear and accessories. Olive, Rustic, Fig, Cranberry and Tan create a rich seasonal palette, while Black and Light Trench lend a softer depth as winter approaches. Tartan appears throughout the collection, from bold checks and jacquard knits to brushed cotton shirts, wool overshirts and softly detailed outerwear. The pattern is also woven into more understated touches, appearing in linings, trims and cuff details. For AW26, Barbour also brings its heritage into sharper focus with Icons in Tartan. The collection takes some of the brand’s most recognisable jackets, including the Beaufort, Bedale, Liddesdale, Spey, Ashby and Durham, and places tartan on the outside of the waxed cotton for the first time. Classic silhouettes are reimagined through oversized checks, patchwork panels, contrast collars and needlecord detailing. The result is a collection that feels both familiar and renewed, celebrating the family tartan, the British countryside and more than 130 years of Barbour craftsmanship.
