Foscarini's Magneto Celebrates Turning 15 with Three New Colourways

Fifteen years after Giulio Iacchetti designed Magneto for Foscarini, the lamp receives a jubilee update. The occasion brings three new finishes to the range: graphite, rose gold, and titanium, alongside improved lighting technology and a new touch dimmer. What doesn’t change is the design concept that made the lamp distinctive in the first place: a magnet holding together a slender stem and compact light source, keeping the silhouette minimal while the construction does the work.

The three new colours each shift the lamp’s character in a different direction. Graphite has a dark and sober presence. Rose gold is warmer, with a soft metallic quality that sits differently to the harder contrast of the original black. Titanium reads as the most contemporary of the three, being cooler and more restrained. Together they expand on the existing black and white versions and offer more ways to position the lamp within different materials and interior contexts.

Magneto is available as both a table and floor lamp, and works equally well as desk lighting or beside a reading chair, where the 360-degree rotating head earns its place. The design’s particular achievement, one that Iacchetti has spoken to across his work, is that a lamp doesn’t need scale to have personality. Magneto is small and precise, and the anniversary edition reinforces that the proportions are part of the point.

The three new colourways launch in Europe in January 2027. Magneto in black and white is available now at foscarini.com.
