Marianna Rothen was born in Canada and lives in New York City.

She uses the esthetic qualities of cinema from the 60’s and 70’s to stage images of women in landscapes of emotional disquiet. She further animates her still photographs into moving narratives of her goddesses.

Her work has been exhibited in Paris, Sydney and New York. She currently has an exhibition at the Hendershot Gallery with Shannon Plumb.
