MadeMe x Converse

With New York City Cool-Girl Brand, MadeMe, Converse Delivers a New Collection for Summer. The by-girls for-girls collection that deviates from the male-dominated sportswear market.

For its collaborative premium apparel and footwear collection exclusively designed for women, Converse partnered with NYC-based brand, MadeMe. With its unparalleled brand persona—a combination of New York City’s queer, fashion and rave cultures that harnesses the energy of the riot grrrl movement—MadeMe represents the dynamism of downtown youth. Converse x MadeMe channels the attitude of today’s NYC rebel girls through daring colors, textured materials and nostalgic idiosyncrasies. The collection celebrates countercultural style ideals and reignited nostalgia for the 90s during a time when cultural identity, bold attitudes and action have renewed meaning. At the core of the collection “A cool girl. Independent, who will take risks and not worry about what everyone else is wearing or doing,” said creative director Erin Magee. “It’s a girl who is attracted to authenticity and wants to explore street, rave, queer and 90s subculture.”

The collection centers around a platform One Star – a sneaker that enjoyed a stint on the 90s rave scene due to its colorful spectrum, and one that Erin Magee herself had purchased on Etsy, just months prior to connecting with Converse on the collaboration. The One Star is remade through the lens of a 90s club kid—a reissued washed suede and a six-wale corduroy chunky ribbed fabric. The platformed silhouettes are accented with vibrant MadeMe graphics, premium Napa leather, a goat leather collar and canvas lining and fastened by widened cotton laces.

The collection launches May 24 with prices ranging from $30 to $110 on converse.com and selected retailers.
