Uniqlo is Coming to Stockholm!

Written by Meghan Scott

Stockholmers rejoice! Uniqlo is finally coming to town. How many times have we forgotten to pop into a Uniqlo when abroad to pick up some heat-tech basics for the long winters we endure each year. Or the times we have spent in Soho, NY, frantically buying our Uniqlo staples, Armageddon style, before we head back to cold and dark Sweden. Come Autumn, we can relish in 1500 square meters of Uniqlo, browsing the endless sea of perfect accents and basics to our wardrobes; Heat-Tech, Blocktech, Airism, Ultra Light Down, Jeans to name a few. The venue will also include Christopher Lemaire's conceptual line Uniqlo U. And the new hyped AirTech line, a series of basics, that act as a warming and cooling layer, which is perfect for the schizo weather here in Stockholm, snow in the morning and sunny patio weather in the afternoon.

Last week Uniqlo hosted a fabulous press event to announce the great news. Yukihiro (Yuki) Katsuta, the Head of Research and Development at Uniqlo and the Group Senior Vice President of Fast Retailing Co., the company in which Uniqlo is a trademark of, was present and spoke to the press about the history, uniqueness, and future of Uniqlo Lifewear. The brand has been inspired by Japanese basic values that embrace simplicity, functionality, and quality, which also happens to come with a nice price tag. They are continuously working on pushing the envelope on combining fashion, function, and technology. The opening of the Stockholm location will be Europe's seventh location and we are counting down the minutes.
